Warranty Terms

General Warranty Terms

The following terms are applicable to all warranties offered by Renewed Hardware, regardless of type or length:

1. The warranty covers the original hardware only.

2. The warranty applies to any failures or malfunctions occurring during the warranty period under normal use conditions and of a material or workmanship defect.

3. The warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is non-transferrable, except with the express written permission of Renewed Hardware .

4. All claims being made under a warranty supplied by Renewed Hardware must be communicated in writing (email is fine).

5. All buyers must ensure that they have run all applicable tests on the hardware before contacting Renewed Hardware . This includes, but is not restricted to:

a. Ensuring that all software and computer settings are correct, including ensuring that all relevant drivers have been correctly updated;

b. Ensuring that all cables and connections are secure;

c. Where the fault is due to a specific connection, ensuring that the item has been tested using an alternate cable, including an alternate connection type if applicable;

d. Any other troubleshooting tests that may be requested by Renewed Hardware .

6. The warranty does not apply in any of the following situations:

a. The fault being claimed for was specified in the original listing;

b. The item has been tampered with, repaired and/or modified by non-authorised personnel;

c. The serial number of the item, or the serial number of any component or accessory associated with the item, has been altered, cancelled or removed;

d. Any warranty seals applied by Renewed Hardware  have been broken or altered;

e. The item has been damaged due to accident, natural disaster, intentional or accidental misuse, or use under abnormal conditions;

f. The item has been improperly maintained or neglected. This includes any failure to correctly apply BIOS, firmware or software updates;

g. The item has become faulty due to the fitting of additional components not supplied by Renewed Hardware , whether through faulty components or incorrect fitting.

7. Any accidental damage caused by Renewed Hardware’s chosen courier in transit is covered by this warranty, provided that Renewed Hardware is notified within a reasonable time period. Notification must be in writing and ideally within 48 hours from date of delivery, but in any case no more than 7 days from the date of dispatch. If no notification is received within this time, the customer is deemed to have taken possession of the item and any damage discovered after that time will be treated as accidental damage while in the customer’s possession.

8. As per industry standard practice, any warranty provided by Renewed Hardware on a monitor (or any device containing a built-in display screen) will cover six (6) or more faulty pixels. A faulty pixel can be any of the following:

a. A “dead” pixel – the pixel does not function on any colour and appears dark or black at all times;

b. A “stuck” pixel – the pixel is only displaying a single colour;

c. A “bright” pixel – the pixel displays the correct colour, but is brighter than surrounding pixels.

9. The allowance for faulty pixels above does not include any faulty pixels indicated in the original listing.

10. The allowance for faulty pixels in point 8 and 9 only applies to faulty pixels that develop after time. The warranty covers even a single faulty pixel on arrival, provided that the buyer notifies Renewed Hardware in writing (email is fine) within 14 days from the date of delivery.

Return to Base Warranty Terms

The following terms apply specifically to any Return to Base (RTB) warranty offered by Renewed Hardware, regardless of length:
1. The buyer is responsible for all return shipping charges.
2. The item must be returned in the same cosmetic and well packed condition as sold.
3. The return shipping label must state the RMA number as supplied by Renewed Hardware . Items should not be returned without first contacting Renewed Hardware in writing to request a RMA number.
4. Renewed Hardware recommends that buyers use a tracked and insured service at all times to return items for repair, as any item lost or damaged in transit will not be actioned.
5. Once an item has been tested and confirmed to be faulty, a Repair, Replacement or Refund will be carried out (in that order).
6. The warranty includes free return shipping of the repaired/replaced item within the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the Isles of Scilly, the Scottish Highlands and Scottish Islands). For all other locations, our standard shipping fees will apply. Please refer to the Delivery page for a full list of shipping charges.
7. If the buyer notices a fault with an item when it first arrives (including damage in transit) and notifies Renewed Hardware  within 7 days from the date of delivery, then Renewed Hardware may choose at their discretion to treat the claim as if the item has an Advanced Exchange Warranty rather than Return to Base Warranty, and if so the warranty claim will be resolved using the Advanced Exchange Warranty terms below.

Advanced Exchange Warranty Terms

The following terms apply specifically to any Advanced Exchange (AE) warranty offered by Renewed Hardware , regardless of length:
1. Advanced Exchange warranty terms only apply to customers in the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the Isles of Scilly, the Scottish Highlands and Scottish Islands).
2. If an item listed with an Advanced Exchange warranty is purchased by a buyer outside of the United Kingdom, the warranty will automatically convert to a Return to Base warranty of the same length and will use the Return to Base Warranty Terms as shown above.
3. For any claim made under an Advanced Exchange warranty (and where Renewed Hardware  are unable to resolve the problem with technical advice over the phone), a replacement item will be dispatched via courier and the faulty item collected.
4. When a collection of a faulty item is arranged, the buyer is responsible for ensuring that the faulty item is securely packaged ready for collection. Packaging should ideally be the same as the goods were originally delivered in – if you are unable to provide suitable packaging, please contact Renewed Hardware and we will be happy to help.
5. The Advanced Exchange includes all replacement/repair costs and associated shipping costs.
6. If Renewed Hardware  are unable to offer an exchange for the same model (for example, if the model has been discontinued), then one of the following options will be applied, in the following order:
a. Jamm21 Ltd will organise a collection of the item to bring back to the Renewed Hardware warehouse for repair.
b. Where a repair is not possible, whether this is determined before or after the item has been returned, Renewed Hardware  will offer the buyer an exchange for a comparable model of the same or similar size and specification.
c. Where neither a repair or a replacement is possible, Renewed Hardware will instead offer the buyer a refund of their original purchase price. Please note that this would be a discretionary refund not covered by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013, and so Renewed Hardware reserves the right to make reasonable deductions from this refund based on the length of time the item has been in use.
7. The buyer is responsible for notifying Renewed Hardware of any address changes for the lifetime of the warranty.
